Online Fundraising Objectives For 11 November, 2015, Veterans Day

  U.S. Vets, Suffering From Unemployment
and Homelessness.
Lets See if We Can Change The Figures

I have started 4 independent online fundraising sites for the purpose of raising monies for needy veterans and their families.  We are hoping to raise $5000.  This money is being raised for an upcoming fundraising event in November in compliance with the Vietnam War Commemorative Partner event requirements.  We are making our next event a fundraising event with presentation of proceeds collected to be presented to a needy veteran/family or to a Veterans Service Organization on behalf of VFW 2850.
Please share this with friends and family members so we can reach our goal of $5000 by 11 November, 2015,  Veterans Day

House Bill H.R. 969 The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2015

There is a new bill that has been introduced that will help thousands of Vietnam Veterans in their fight for recognition to the exposure to Agent Orange.  The House bill, H.R 969  “The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2015” has been presented and is currently under review.  This bill is to clarify presumptions relating to the exposure of the “Blue Water Navy” veterans who served in the Territorial Waters of the Republic of Vietnam to Agent Orange.
If you wish to read the bill as introduced, go here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d114:hr969
History:  prior to 2002, any veteran who received the “Vietnam Service” medal was granted presumptive exposure to the 14 diseases associated with Agent Orange exposure.  In 2002, the Veterans Administration changed the rules.  It now requires the veteran to have set foot on Vietnam soil or had been on patrol on the inland waterways in order to qualify for presumptive exposure to the Agent Orange.
We're asking that you contact your Congressman asking for their support of this very important bill.
The process is pretty simple, just follow these steps:

This bill states “Blue Water Navy Veterans", but also encompasses Marines, Army and Air Force personnel that were stationed aboard a Navy vessel in the Territorial waters of the Republic of Vietnam.

VFW 2850 Viet Nam War Commemorative Partner Ceremony and Annual Picnic July 18, 2015

Vietnam War Veteran Commemorative Ceremony
To Be Held At VFW Post 2850, Cleveland, OH, 44102

Cleveland  — VFW Post 2850’s Post Surgeon John Meehan  is urging all Local residents and military families to participate in the Vietnam War Veteran Commemorative Ceremony honoring the sacrifices of veterans and military families during the Vietnam War, which began substantial escalation 50 years ago.

“As a US Army Vietnam Veteran and retired Navy we have many friends who are Vietnam War veterans,
I believe we need to show them that their service to their country is both appreciated and honorable. When you are a soldier serving in the field of battle, the origin or popularity or geopolitical ramifications of a war are beyond your control. As a member of the United States military your duty is to your country, your troops and your family — and the hope that you are helping preserve and promote freedom,” said  Meehan. “This should not be misconstrued as celebrating a violent conflict, which all military personnel always hope to avoid. We are honoring the brave men and women who risked and sacrificed both life and limb and mental and emotional health to perform their sworn duty on behalf of America, its allies and innocent people whose freedom was in jeopardy.”

VFW 2850 applied to the U.S. Department of Defense to become an official Vietnam War Commemoration Partner. The ceremony honoring Vietnam War veterans will be held on July 18th, 2015 at the VFW 2850 annual picnic.  Time of the event will be posted in the near future.

“The local commemorative ceremony committee is led by former military and civilian personnel who are members or affiliates of VFW 2850.  They have been working diligently for the past month to make sure the ceremony and the subsequent fellowship picnic are well organized. I will be in attendance and I have informed the committee members that I am available for any task the committee wants me to perform,” said Meehan.

VFW 2850 is inviting members of the media whose parents or grandparents served as United States military personnel, in federal agencies, the USO or otherwise supported the war effort to participate in coverage of the event.
